Sad news

Yesterday morning we found Sooty, our maran hen, dead in the coop - she had been very ill for a few days but treatment didn't seem to help. Goodbye, little lady

An update and some home improvements

Well, everyone is doing well - Ruby and Delia are back on lay having given up on being allowed hatch any eggs! Butter is now broody and we're debating putting her on some Legbar eggs for green egg layers... There's another bring and buy sale this weekend and as it's my birthday on Tuesday we're off looking for some new additions. Pekins hopefully and whatever else we fancy.

Project Cathy's Field Ducks is coming along nicely, we've settled on a breed; Indian runner ducks due to thier inability to fly, thier prolific egg laying and, it has to be said, thier rather ridiculous stance! We'll be keeping any eye out on sunday at the sale so watch this space!

We made a few changes and improvements to the coop today to accomodate our newcomers - the feeder is now hung to stop any greedy chooks, we also built a new roost to give everyone some wing room.
